During the First World War both the United Kingdom and Germany attempted to carry out naval blockades of the other. Blockades had been a part of British strategy in its wars with European enemies for many years. In the early 18th century they were mainly strategic, with the intention of giving warning if enemy fleets came out of port.   “Human Smoke” on Churchill and the Blockade of Germany July 5, Ap Scott Manning 0 Comments Nicholson Baker's Human Smoke was released this year and aimed to be a provocative book containing a series of little-known quotes and events between World War I and World War II.

States throughout history have persisted in severely encumbering and even prohibiting international trade. Seldom, however, can the consequences of such an effort — the obvious immediate results as well as the likely long-range ones — have been as devastating as in the case of the Allied (really, British) naval blockade of Germany in the First World War. Howard, “The Social and Political Consequences of the Allied Food Blockade of Germany, ,” German History. 11, no. 2 (): Author: Alyssa Cundy.

In the series: Official history of the war; History of the Great War based on official documents History of the blockade of Germany and of the countries associated with her in the Great War: Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and Turkey, As has been fully detailed in both our Hidden History, the Secret Origins of the First World War and over several blogs, [20] this combination of political power, media exploitation and financial backing bounced the British Empire into war with Germany in August in order to create the Anglo-American supremacy in a new world order.
